Beyonce and Jay-Z Welcome Baby Girl With Bad Name

2012 is off to a wonderful start for Beyonce and Jay-Z!

The singer, 30, gave birth to a baby girl in New York on Saturday, according to various outlets, including Good Morning America and her hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle, which reported that "baby and mom are doing just fine." GMA reports the superstar gave birth via C-section.

Both GMA and E! News announced that the superstar baby's name is Ivy Blue Carter. (According to GMA, the couple chose "Ivy" because of the significance of the number "4" or "IV," -- Beyonce and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively, were married on April 4, 2008, and Beyonce's latest album is entitled 4.)

It's the first child for the "Love on Top" singer and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 42.

An observer at NYC's Lenox Hill Hospital told Us Weekly that Jay-Z was spotted walking the hospital halls Saturday morning looking "happy." Beyonce's family members -- sister Solange, parents Tina and Mathew Knowles -- were also spotted at the facility with "flowers with pink balloons and silver and black ribbons," the witness added.

Confirming the big news? None other than superstar pal Rihanna, who tweeted Saturday, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."

Fellow hip hop icon Russell Simmons also wrote: "Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z."

The 30-year-old singer first announced she and her hubby, 42, were expecting at MTV's Video Music Awards in August. During her incredible "Love on Top" performance, she exclaimed, "Feel the love that's growing inside of me," before ripping open her purple sequined blazer to reveal her baby bump.

Beyonce was spotted as recently as Thursday night in NYC, covering up her growing baby bump with a colorful scarf.

Although rumors spread at the beginning of the month that she had already given birth, a source told Us Beyonce and the Roc Nation mogul actually spent New Year's Eve dining on fried chicken and oysters at Brooklyn restaurant Buttermilk Channel.

What is with people giving their babies grandma names lately? At least it's a real name, I don't mind Ivy actually but Blue just sounds daft.

Apparently, that's the real name! Blue Ivy, not Ivy Blue. That's what BFF Gwyneth Paltrow said on Twitter. So gross. I'm sorry, but who wants to be named Blue?

Wow these were there delivery demands!

Whether or not you've ever had a baby, you're probably aware that the actual process of giving birth isn't exactly a walk in the park. But if you're superstar Beyonce, you can certainly do your best to make sure you're surrounded by luxury, privacy, and special treatment. The pop singer and her husband, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, 42, pulled out all the stops to make sure they welcomed new baby girl Blue Ivy (who arrived on Saturday via C-section) in style. The couple reportedly shelled out a whopping $1.3 million to take over a swanky, newly renovated suite (and according to some reports, an entire floor) at Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side.
When Beyonce checked in -- under the pseudonym Ingrid Jackson -- her demands were definitely diva-ish. Hospital staffers were forced to turn over their cell phones (to avoid any unauthorized picture snapping) and instructed to cover the lenses of the floor's security cameras with tape.
And the "If I Were a Boy" songstress didn't just turn to hubby Jay-Z for support while in labor. She also enlisted an entire security team to stand guard during her stay. Sure, it makes sense that they wanted to ensure that Bey and her baby didn't get swarmed by the paparazzi or an unscrupulous peeping Tom, but the new mom seemed to forget that she wasn't the only one at the hospital with a bundle of joy to gush over. Among other parents irked at how they were treated, a Brooklyn man named Neil Coulon is still reeling from his run-ins with Beyonce and Jay-Z's muscle men while attempting to check on his premature twins inside Lenox Hill's neonatal intensive care unit.
"Three times they stopped me from entering or exiting the NICU and it happened once on Friday [the day Beyonce actually checked in] just because they wanted to use the hallway," the frustrated dad told the New York Daily News "They should have been more strategic about it. These are children with problems in intensive care and you're just going to take over the hospital like you own it? All I want is an apology."
If that doesn't happen, would a personal tweet from Gwyneth Paltrow suffice?

My opinion: The hospital honestly shouldn't allow anyone to rent out an ENTIRE floor.

    Thanks so much Dave!!!!

Beyonce's head is so far up her ass, it's sickening. No one cares that she's at the hospital giving birth. Other mothers are, too. They care about their children. They don't want to harass Beyonce and Jay Z. Those type of conditions shouldn't have been allowed. She should have given birth in her own home if she was so paranoid of her privacy.
