    "Summer Cocktail Attire?"

    What is that?

I have a wedding to go to next month and the dress code is summer cocktail attire, but what is that for men? I obviously don't want to be too casual for the wedding, but I don't want to wear a suit if I don't have to since the wedding is outside and it will probably be hot.

Any ideas? Pictures? Etc? I have no problems going out and buying a complete new outfit because I need to look AMAZING so that I upstage the bride.

So, any suggestions are a big help!

I would do a very lightweight linen jacket, preferably khaki. Pants with loafers, suede (sock less, of course).

Agree with Mario. Also, I feel like cocktail implies no tie necessary.

^ Yeah. Do a very colorful shirt. A gingham or plaid can look nice.

You guys are good, haha. After looking at those pics, I found this on Jcrew.com:

Do you think something like that is good? I've never gotten a suit from JCrew before so I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but the wedding is a month away so I can always return it, haha. I can't tell if the fabric of that suit is the look that I want, though.

I kind of want to go for something light like that, rather than a navy blue or something dark as such. For a lighter type suit, do I wear brown belt/shoes?

    I would do brown shoes.

That looks very smart. I hate it when guys don't wear socks with shoes though! (Apart from sandals of course). No wonder you were confused, I wouldn't have a clue what that means

I love that suit Mike! I hear the 'Ludlow' fits great, I haven't tried them myself.

I also love guys with shoes and no socks (when appropriate). YAY boinkles! http://wannaboinkthatboinkle.tumblr.com/
