IDOL vs X FACTOR? forget that.

    It's now Coke vs. Pepsi.

    Entertainment Weekly.

The days of seeing Simon Cowell at the American Idol judges table sitting behind a large Coke glass are really gone. Fox has announced Pepsi as the official beverage sponsor of The X Factor. ďThe comprehensive sponsorship of The X Factor by Pepsi includes an extensive, multi-platform off-air marketing partnership; weekly in-show integrations and placements; and an immersive content experience online. Pepsi will be the exclusive beverage sponsor of The X Factor both on and off-air,Ē the release says. Why is the partnership perfect, besides sticking it to Idol? Pepsi is quick to remind you of its ďhistoric, unforgettable campaigns with pop icons like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, and more recently, Snoop Dogg.Ē Thatís actually a decent argument. If Pepsi is smart, theyíll ask Cowell to film some videos in which he critiques the performances in those commercials. With some creative editing, that could be fun, right?

Personally, I would hate to be on a show sponsored by Pepsi because I am a Coke girl. Yes, I can tell the difference, and I remember having a strong preference (unlike Cowell, apparently) by the time I was a freshman in college (and arguing about it in COM 101). Today, if Iím someplace that carries Pepsi products, Iíll order a Sierra Mist, not a Pepsi ó unless Iím in desperate need of caffeine. (Editorís note: Mandi, youíre crazy. Pepsi is the choice of a new generation! Again.) Itís smart of the soft drinks to target shows with a young audience, because I imagine most of us have established loyalty by the time weíre adults. Letís take it to a poll!

Of course there's a difference, I know my soft drinks I used to prefer Pepsi but I'm totally Team Coke now.

I'm curious how X factor's gonna work this year because apparently the US and UK ones are going to overlap time wise.

Wanna know something funny? I didn't drink soda AT ALL until I was like... 16. And when I first started dabbling in it, I would ALWAYS have Pepsi because of the Britney connection But I favor Coke now, my family drinks Diet Coke like its their job.

I prefer pepsi. I'm currently drinking the wild cherry flavored one. Addictive.

I enjoy both Coke and Pepsi, but i do have a preference for Pepsi.

I think its just more of a general thing for me. I enjoy Pepsi products more, like 7up, and all the Crush drinks. But i do often crave Coke, and there are more restaurants that serve coke then pepsi, at least in canada.

Are we discussing soft drinks or TV shows here, haha.

Love coca cola. So much better than pepsi. But saying that, this is probably the prettiest can ever created.

But yes. X Factor is a million times better than Idol. *so* excited to see the US version.

Word on the street is the Will Smith just signed on as a judge. Whuck?

Back on topic, though, haha. I love Coke! I don't drink soft drinks that often, but if I have a choice, I always choose Coke! "X-Factor" is missing out big time by not having Coke as their sponsor! Embarrassing, really.

Will Smith possibly knows a thing or two, except he obviously thinks it's okay for a 10 year old to be a popstar so...
