I've Googled it and found nothing to help me so far and its fruuustrating! I dunno whats wrong...nor do I know how to re-install the OS (especially without losing anything- which apparently you CAN do?).
Anyone know of anything I can do? :'(
You should be able to put your OS X CD in, reboot, and then hold down "C" right after you hear the chime.. as it's booting up. That should force the computer to boot from the CD. Once there, you should be able to do an "Archive & Install" which keeps all of your personal data and re-installs only the system files.
And if for some reason, that doesn't work, then reboot and hold down Option, (having the OS CD in) and it'll let you choose your startup disk.
Yea, after hours of trying I managed to make it work and re-install. Only thing is, it re-installed and the new installation just took up more space on the HD as opposed to overwriting the first one :-/ Weird. And I managed to get all my Applications back...but none of my files :-/ Boo.
Thanks, though <3
Eugh...it worked for a few hours and upon rebooting today it was stuck again. From what I read online it might be a problem with my HD :-S
Im still on my warranty period (the MacBook is only like 3 months old) so Im guessing I should just take it to an Apple Store and have it checked out, right?
You get a year free Applecare, right? Give them a call.
