i watched this movie without knowing anything about it, beyond seeing the poster. it was TOTALLY 100% not what i expected it to be. I thought it was fantastic.

My favorite 2009 Oscar movie, after "The Reader"

...But it didn't get a single nomination?

^^ LOL! Weird though, if I remember correctly it had a lot of pre-Oscar buzz. Wasn't it supposed to be Eastwood's ticket to the Oscars after "Changeling" wasn't received as well as expected?

What didn't you like about it, Dave?

Lol yea it was expected to fare pretty well but got totally snubbed! People were expecting it to snag nods for things ranging from Best Song to Best Actor and whatnot.

I thought the movie just fell really flat. After seeing it I felt like I had seen the movie before when I was younger, but with a younger target audience. It was nothing extraordinary in terms of plot or development, the characters were clichés and the acting was dreadful (my soul wilted every time Clint grunted/growled throughout the movie ). I just found it to be a really cheesy vehicle that was metaphorically meant to stand as Clint's farewell. My biggest gripe with it was that it totally came off as a children's movie that they added a few guns and cars to to maybe broaden the target audience.

I saw it a few months ago, and I liked it, but I didn't get all the hype that surrounded it when it was released.

I think it was a great story, but the acting kind of fell short in some places. I can't remember who, but one character in particular was pretty awful... maybe the main boy?
