Report: MTV adding new party-girl 'vixens' to try and spice up 'The City'; Jay Lyon quits show.
MTV apparently has a plan to add some life to The City
Whitney Port was spotted at Saturday's Pepsi Natural party at Lily Pond in East Hampton, NY with two new "vixens" who will have recurring roles on The City's
upcoming second season, The New York Post reported
"Their names are Samantha and Roxy, and they are out of control," a source told The Post
. "MTV brought in new party girls because the first season was so boring."
In addition, the source said the two new girls were brought in because The City
star Olivia Palermo has a new job that will decrease the amount of partying she contributes to the show's second season.
"Palermo now works at Elle
and can't be out going wild," the source told The Post
MTV renewed The City
for a second season earlier this year, and it will continue to follow the former The Hills
star as she attempts to make her mark in New York City.
second season will be without Tamarama band singer Jay Lyon -- who dated Port during the show's first edition before the two called it quits.
Last month, Lyon said he was unsure if he'd sign-on for The City's
second season or focus on music instead.
"I'm still deciding," Lyon told OK! Weekly
in early May. "I'm still talking with our managers and working out if that's the right decision for [Tamarama] right now. We're really busy with the record, so that's the main priority at the moment and always will be."
Lyon subsequently decided that music trumped reality television, as he won't be back for The City's
"I couldn't handle reality television!" Lyon told
E! News late last month about his decision to abandon the show.
