OK, I know there are quite a few errors going on with the site that I will work on now that we have the basic site back up. I want to go ahead and post some info on what happened before going ahead and fixing the last few pieces.
Sunday night our hosting provider was the victim of a zero-day exploit attack. A zero day attack is when a previously unknown security hole is found being used in software before a patch is issued. The attacker gained access to many virtual servers and was able to delete a lot of data. There is an article in The Register here, http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/08/webhost_attack/
The founder and CEO of the software company that made the virtualization software that had the security hole hanged himself on Monday.
As a result of all of this I have switched back to our old hosting company, LiquidWeb. They provide fully managed servers and their data center is actually local to me and is managed and owned by them directly. Our server will be backed up daily on external RAID storage.
You have probably noticed that the posts after November have been lost. Unfortunately this is the case. I take a large responsibility for this, this was the most recent copy of the database I had downloaded. It was my responsibility to backup the database and am truly sorry for the posts that have been lost. Data loss isn't something I take lightly. As I said previously, our new server will have daily off server backup automatically, which should prevent this kind of loss occurring again. If you are looking for a certain thread I would recommend searching google, include site:thefreshzone.com in the query to filter results. Most threads should be indexed on google and you can use the Cached link to see them from the google results.
I am very confident in our new host and once we get everything back in place fully the site should be running better and more reliably than ever.
